From: ACH Dollars for Scholars

ACH Dollars for Scholars awards money that is donated for general scholarships and also money donated by businesses & organizations, some which set specific criteria for their recipients. If matching funds are received from WA State, a minimum of $2000 will be given to students attending institutions in Washington.  A volunteer scoring committee (not the ACH DFS board) reviews & scores the applications. They do not see any names, so when they are scoring, the tallies are based strictly on the information requested.

 

Letters of Recommendation must be current and come from college professors, advisers, employers, etc. (not from high school staff). At least one letter must be from college faculty or advisor.

 

Personal Data (on application): For work experience, submit past 4 years only. In regard to activities, please submit ONLY your current year (including any summer 2009 activities) information. Points may be deducted for information that goes farther back.

 

The scholarships available to ACH college applicants are:

 

1) Central Washington Grain Growers Scholarships

    Two $500 scholarships are given, one to a boy and one to a girl. Students pursuing a career

    in agriculture are given 1st preference; however, awards will be given, regardless.     

 

2) Big Bend Insurance

    One $250 scholarship will be given to a student pursuing a business degree.

    Applicant must be at least a junior.

 

3) Hartline Days Scholarship

     Amount  and  number  of  recipients  to  be  determined  at  award time. Need, academics, and

     community involvement will be considered.

 

4) Connie Behne Scholarship  $500 For students who participated in ACH Special Ed Program. Based

     on merit and the demonstration of a positive work ethic.

 

5) McKay Seed Scholarship

    For Sophomore, Jr. or Sr., Essay required with ACH DFS application. Ag-preference, however, scholar-

    ships will be awarded regardless. McKay Seed will select recipients. For specific criteria inquire at the

    ACH Counselor’s office.

 

6) Wade & Teresa King Animal Science Scholarship

    This scholarship has accumulated to $300 and is to be given to a student studying Animal Science.

 

7) Lanny Evans Scholarship

    Sponsored by Marge Evans, in honor of Lanny. An essay is required. Please request specific

    application for this scholarship from the high school counselor’s office. This scholarship will be    

    awarded to an Almira graduating senior or to an Almira college student.    

 

If ACH Dollars for Scholars raises sufficient funds, the following scholarships may be available:

 

8) Dollars for Scholars General Scholarships

    Number of scholarships given and the amounts will be determined at donation cut-off date.

    The ACH DFS goal is to award as many scholarships as possible.

 

9) Alumni Scholarships

     Number of scholarships given and amts. will be determined at donation cut-off date. No specific criteria.
