  • Grand Coulee is  located in Eastern Washington. Longitude and Latitude is 47 degrees North and 119 degrees West. 
    The population in 1990 was 984. 

 
  • Historical Facts:
    On July 16, 1933 the first stake of Grand Coulee Dam was driven in.  The dam brings electricity to 11 western states and irrigation to over 500,000 acres of farmland in the Columbia Basin.  It is the 3rd largest producer of electricity in the world.   The first water that went over the dam was on June 1, 1942.

    Many community members in Grand Coulee work in occupations related to the Dam, and other Government agencies.  Recreation is also a part of Grand Coulee's economy.

    There are many lakes around the Grand Coulee area.  Outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking, and water sporting are popular.  There is also hiking and rock climbing.

    There is a Laser Light Show in Grand Coulee.  The dam is the largest concrete dam in North America.
