Process:

Although you're are already an expert on games you will need to brush up a bit on your Lewis and Clark Trail expertise. The following activities should help you do just that.

Activity One:

Draw a map of the Lewis and Clark Trail. 

(This will most likely be the background for your game)

  • Include landforms

  • Rivers

  • Landmarks

  • Important Places

 

Activity Two:

Make a journal of important things

Include the following:

  • 8 entries of animals encountered

  • 8 entries of plants encountered

  • 4 entries of Native America Tribes encountered on the way

    • Tell their location

    • Tell about the encounter (friendly/hostile)

  • 6 entries explaining hardships along the way

 

Activity Three: 

Make a Timeline 

The timeline will need to cite at least 10 important events from the expedition.

 

Activity Four:

Make Biography cards 

You will need to make Biography cards for eight people that where on the expedition.

(These will serve as descriptions for the movers or game pieces)

Cards must include:

  • Name of the person

  • Description of the person

    • personality

    • physical features

  • What role they played in the expedition.

  • A picture

Game

You are now ready to design your game.

Remember it needs to be:

  • Informative

  • Fun

  • Historically Accurate

  • Colorful and Visually Appealing

Items to include:

  • Movers that represent the people on the Biography cards

  • A process for moving around the game board

  • Directions for how to play the game.

  • Important events from the timeline

  • Each of your journal entries need to be represented in some way

  • A map of the trail needs to be included is some way.
